01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Yuniwa, eel can be enjoyed in several forms, from shirayaki to unaju. One diner who tried the full course featuring the premium branded eel Bando Taro described a progression of appetisers, shirayaki, an eel omelette, unaju, eel-liver soup and dessert. The thick eel was soft and tender, they said: the shirayaki brought out its flavour on its own, while the unaju paired it with sauce and rice.

A report from a separate eel event praised the fragrant shirayaki and its plump flesh, served with wasabi; its savoury flavour, the diner said, deepened with each bite. They also mentioned the tender eel and aromatic sauce in the unaju, as well as the soft texture and dashi flavour of the rolled omelette. The event menu included a croquette made with black edamame beans from Tamba-Sasayama, whose fluffy texture and gentle sweetness stood apart from the eel. The account gives a sense of a course centred on eel but rounded out with seasonal ingredients and a monaka sweet to finish.

Other diners have reported enjoying omakase meals that included dishes beyond eel. One began with a clear consommé whose tomato flavour was surprisingly rich, then moved on to sashimi, sushi, tempura, wagyu and seasonal ingredients. Another mentioned black abalone from Hokkaido with kadaif, Kyoto-raised Japanese Black wagyu rump, and sushi made with seasonal ingredients.

These accounts describe different visits; they are not a promise that the same dishes are always available. Yuniwa may suit diners looking for an eel course or seasonal cooking in a relaxed setting. Dine-in service and table service are available, with lunch and dinner also listed.
